A RATHER unpleasant looking local authority office block has just been demolished on a site opposite Kendal fire station on Busher Walk, after being left vacant for a number of years and having proved unsaleable.

The contractors have left the site looking very tidy and, no doubt on the instructions of the local authority, chained off to make vehicle access impossible.

The site, if properly surfaced, is probably capable of providing parking space for 50 or more cars.

I wonder if any of our local council representatives can give us an idea what is planned for this space and a good reason why it shouldn't be utilised as a car park being, as it is, very convenient for the town centre and having good, safe road access.
