FRESH from hosting BBC2s Big Asian Stand Up and Edinburgh Nights, comedian Nish Kumar is bringing his brand new show, It's In Your Nature To Destroy Yourself, to The Dukes, Lancaster, on Thursday (October 11) at 8pm. The title of the show is a quote from Terminator 2 (must be a fan?) and features jokes about politics, mankind's capacity for self-destruction and just good ol' fun stuff. The show is recommended for anyone aged 16 plus.

SPACE – the anthology tour. Space came to prominence throughout the mid-1990s with their eclectic style of alternative rock, messing up and sampling genres from post-punk, ska, techno, easy-listening, and hip-hop, pioneering the use of electronic instruments within their domain as a rock band. They first made a name for themselves in the charts with single Female of the Species.

They have sold more than five million records worldwide with titles including Spiders, Tin Planet, Suburban Rock & Roll and Attack of the Mutant 50ft Kebab, along with ten top 40 singles and a host of other single releases to-date, with titles including ‘Neighbourhood’ and many more. The band continue to write gritty edgy pop songs that capture the imagination of the listener and are playing in The Brewery’s Malt Room tomorrow (Friday, 7.30pm).

BORDERLINES Carlisle Book Festival, back for its fifth year, will feature some of the best regional and national authors as well as a great range of workshops across several city centre venues. The festival aims to promote an annual celebration of the written and spoken word in Carlisle, a focus for literary excellence and showcasing local writing talent. It also hopes to provide opportunities for local people to experience literature in direct, accessible and dynamic ways; and helping to foster literary skills within the community. The festival takes place until Sunday (October 7).
