I AM in total agreement with Barbara Street regarding the use of slate on which to serve food (Letters, September 6, 'Don't serve food on slates').
I don't think this is age related as I have asked a broad age range of people their opinion this week and all said the same - it is very irritating and almost impossible to eat off properly.
Whenever I am served this way and asked if I would like anything else (or not) I ask for a plate, then transfer my meal on to it.
You wouldn't tile a roof with plates so stop this daft way of presenting food - it's not necessary.
