A DOMESTIC abuse charity will be able to help more vulnerable people at risk in South Lakeland thanks to a donation from Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation.

Springfield Support in Kendal has received a £2,000 donation from the foundation to fund the provision of counselling for people affected by domestic abuse.

Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation is funded through the Small Change Big Difference scheme where members donate the pennies from the interest on their accounts just once a year to help smaller charities around the UK.

Springfield Domestic Abuse Support in South Lakeland was put forward for the donation by colleagues at the Yorkshire Building Society agency at Turner Scott letting agents on Highgate in Kendal.

Springfield was established more than 100 years ago and offers support to people who have been affected by domestic abuse, both in the community and in their refuge accommodation.

Victoria Roberts, Springfield Strategic Service Manager, said: “Specialist counselling provides those affected by domestic abuse with the support they need to start on their road to recovery from the abuse they have suffered.”
