WALKERS are packing their rucksacks for this Saturday's "PJ in a Day" charity trek along Wainwright's Pennine Journey long-distance footpath.

Several charities and clubs will be walking a section of the 247-mile route to raise money, including the Oaklea Trust, Mencap, the Yorkshire Millennium Trust, members of the Wainwright Society, in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance, and Bampton Amblers, in aid of Hospice at Home.

The event is to celebrate the 80th anniversary of AW doing his Pennine Journey in 1938, starting and ending at Settle railway station. It is being organised by the Pennine Journey Supporters Club.
