PUPILS from a Yorkshire Dales school School bagged multiple awards at a major regional shooting competition for cadets.
At the hotly contested North West Cadet Skill at Arms meeting (CADSAAM), Sedbergh won eight out of the ten trophies on offer and were crowned both ‘Champion Team’ and ‘Top School’.
CADSAAM is the main regional competition for ‘Service Rifle’, a discipline that seeks to emulate military shooting, with rapid fire, unpredictable targets and physical challenges.
Among many individual successes, Freddie Cade was crowned as the overall top shot in the competition, as well as winning the Pairs match with Daisy Armstrong. Rhiannon Piper won the Attack and Reorganisation match with a near-perfect display of marksmanship, while Henry Nichols won a silver medal in the Defence match.
Sedbergh teacher Sam Sharma emphasised the high levels of focus and skill shown by the pupils.
He said: "Such a clean sweep required the team to sustain an extremely high standard of shooting and concentration, despite physical demands and inclement weather."
