NEWTON Rigg College is celebrating an early crop of maize at its Sewborens Farm.
The crop, planted for the third year as part of farm trials with Agrovista, was due to be harvested three weeks earlier than usual. James Todd, farms manager at the college, is pictured, right, checking out the maize with Agrovista’s Steven Gate.
The farm grows 65 acres of forage maize for the college’s 250 head dairy herd.
