I write in response to ‘Not fair to dog owners’ (Letters, September 27).
The temporary notices referred to are in regard to a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for Dean Gibson School playing field in Kendal
Unfortunately these notices incorrectly mapped that the footpath from Thornleigh Road, which runs adjacent to the school’s playing field, is included in the PSPO.
I would like to apologise for any confusion this has caused.
Notices that show the correct dog exclusion zone were placed in the area by our enforcement team on Friday, September 28.
The dog exclusion zone at Dean Gibson relates specifically to the school’s playing field, and not the surrounding footpaths.
Following an 11-week public consultation period on PSPOs last year, and through working with local community groups, it’s apparent that there is a dog fouling issue at the playing field, which is why a dog exclusion zone will be put in place.
PSPOs are designed to deter irresponsible dog ownership, protect the environment and ensure that people can enjoy public spaces safely.
