Is it not ironic that so called mountain bikers complain because the repairs on the Three Rivers Route between Kentmere and Staveley undertaken by the Lake District National Park Authority have made the bridleway too smooth (Gazette, September 13, 'Bikers angry over smoother bridleway')?
At the same time others complain endlessly about the erosion of tracks in the Tilberthwaite caused by a few recreational 4x4 vehicles - making these too rough.
The solution is simple - mountain bikers should move to Tilberthwaite and 4x4 vehicles invited to use the Three Rivers Route instead.
The LNDPA can then decide the appropriate level of relative roughness or smoothness necessary to keep everybody happy and hopefully stop all this tedious whingeing.
