To mark the 200th anniversary of The Westmorland Gazette in 2018, we are publishing a photograph from our archives on our website every day this year.

Today's photograph shows the Bowder Stone at Borrowdale, in 1975.

The stone is said to have been deposited by retreating ice during the last Ice Age, although some people think it fell from the slope above.
