I SHALL believe serious action is being taken to stop atmospheric pollution when I hear Airbus, Boeing and other aircraft makers announce they will no longer produce aircraft to increase the fleet already flying.

Apparently, there are now so many jet aircraft (polluting the atmosphere near the jet stream) there is insufficient parking space for them all to be grounded at once.

Similarly, when I hear vehicles (polluting at ground level) will only be produced to replace not to expand the existing vehicle fleet. If that deleteriously affects the GDP/growth figures - shucks, GDP is bogus and growth is a busted notion on a finite Earth.

The IPCC target of not increasing the global atmospheric temperature by more than 1.5 degrees is a generation away. The economics of aircraft mean they are kept flying and polluting for 20-plus years and vehicles often for up to ten years - that is, a generation.

JFK set a target of 10 years to get to the Moon. A far more vital target is here on Earth and a generation is too long.
