THE Northern Homebuilding & Renovating Show is returning to Harrogate this November.

The three-day event is designed to help and inspire people embarking on renovations, extensions and self-build projects, with advice from property experts at masterclasses, seminars and face-to-face consultations.

More than 240 specialist companies will be under one roof at the Harrogate Convention Centre from November 2 to 4, showcasing everything from eco technology for low-energy houses to the latest heating systems, kitchens, bathrooms, doors, windows, flooring and more.

At the "Ask the Architect" area, show-goers will be able to have one-to-one consultations on topics ranging from building regulations to structural engineering with chartered architectural specialists from RIBA, the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Property experts at the show will include Jason Orme, editorial director of Homebuilding & Renovating magazine; and David Snell, the magazine's self-build specialist, who has undertaken 14 such projects. He will shed light on finding a plot, arranging a stage-payment mortgage, developing your design and deciding whether to use a custom-build provider, main contractor, local tradesmen, or build it yourself.

Builders will also be on hand from the Federation of Master Builders to give advice on every kind of project around the home, from family-friendly kitchens to light and spacious extensions, and conversions of lofts, garages and cellars.

Meanwhile, planning expert Sally Tagg will be running a clinic with her team to help people find their way through the planning maze.
