PEOPLE are being invited to take part in a free fireworks spectacular with a special Remembrance Day theme at a South Lakeland sports stadium.

Mintbridge, the new home of Kendal Rugby Club on Shap Rd, is preparing to host its Skies Alight firework extravaganza on November 2.

Skies Alight, which will feature a spectacular, musical fireworks display, is to be put on with the support of local businesses.

Hot food will be available on site, as well as a licensed bar. There will also be children’s rides and other attractions. Limited parking will be made available to disabled guests.

People can also purchase a VIP ticket from Mintbridge for £15 (£10 for children) to enjoy a hot pot supper and an exclusive view of the display from the clubhouse balcony.

Steven Whitehead, director of rugby at Mintbridge, said the stadium planned to host Skies Alight every year to bring people together for a night of fun.

He also thanked Kendal Rotary Club, Kendal Town Council, Kentdale Land Rover, Barclays and Lakeland Ltd, which are all sponsoring the event this year.

Steven said:  “I think anyone who came to our fireworks night last year will agree that it was truly spectacular.

“This year we’re planning to put on something just as special, with a Remembrance Day theme as it is now 100 years since the end of World War One.

“We want Mintbridge to be a real asset to the local community and somewhere people can use to keep fit and healthy, socialise and even do business. Skies Alight plays a great part in that, bringing families and friends together for a really spectacular, fun occasion and we look forward to it continuing long into the future.”
