COMMUNITY groups across Craven have together received thousands of pounds from the Craven and Beamsley trusts.

A total of ten groups in Craven and in Keighley have been awarded a total of £9,950, following this month's meeting of the Trusts.

Hellifield’s children will have a new see-saw at the village’s Station Road playground, thanks in part to the £827 grant awarded by The Craven Trust.

Settle Area Swimming Pool has been awarded £1,500 toward the cost of a new swimming pool cover. The cover helps stop heat escaping from the pool when it is not in use, so will also help the charity save on fuel bills.

Settle Stories will receive £1,000 to pay for a hearing loop, ensuring those with hearing difficulties can take part in the workshops and popular events put on by the charity.

A group of volunteers at Kirkby Malham Parish Hall, who have been working hard to raise funds to improve the condition of their hall, have been awarded £1,500 to put towards the refurbishment.

St. John’s Church at Cowgill near Sedbergh, has been given £1,500 towards its redecoration.

Revitalise, the UK’s largest provider of respite breaks for disabled people and their carers, has also been given £1,062 to help three people from the area take an enjoyable but safe and secure holiday.

As well as supporting community groups, six small grants were made to people in need.

Each year the Craven and Beamsley Trusts make grants of about £35,000 to good causes in Craven and Keighley.
