TWO for one entry to Lowther Castle and its giant wooden adventure fort is among the discounts being offered by the MyCumbria card this October half-term and beyond.

Produced by Cumbria Tourism, the card gives families from the CA and LA postcode areas the chance to enjoy hundreds of Cumbrian attractions at reduced prices.

Discounts for local people include 20 per cent off a two-hour Treetop Trek for up to four people at Brockhole; 20 per cent off entry to South Lakes Safari Zoo, Dalton; 10 per cent off at Go Ape, Grizedale; and two-for-one tickets to Grasmere's Dove Cottage, the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, and cinemas in Bowness and Ulverston. Rheged, at Penrith, also has buy one, get one free offers on films and indoor play.

Food and drink promotions include two-for-one afternoon tea at the Langdale Chase Hotel, near Windermere; and 20 per cent off drinks in the Royal Barn at Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery.

Gaynor Anderson, of Cumbria Tourism, said: "This isn’t just great for families, but it’s a really strong way of supporting businesses here in Cumbria through the winter months. The team here has worked really hard to put together these offers, which should see big savings made really quickly over the half-term break and beyond."
