A COUPLE were rescued after getting trapped up to their waists in quicksand near Carnforth.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and Morecambe Coastguard Rescue Team were called to rescue two young people stuck in the mud near Marsh House Farm, Carnforth, on Saturday October 20.

The incident occurred at around 3:15pm and the RNLI hovercraft and Knott End Coastguard Team were also called on the scene to help out.

Arnside and South Lakes Coastguard Rescue Team reported that a young male was rescued relatively quickly but the woman took a bit longer as she was stuck up to her waist in mud.

Once released the woman was ferried ashore by the RNLI hovercraft and then stretchered to the waiting ambulance where she was then checked out by North West Ambulance Service paramedics before being taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary as a precaution.
