A WOMAN whose dog has been missing for more than two months has not given up hope of finding her pet.

Val Martindale, from Gleaston, saw her dog Jessie last at the end of August, saying she was "desperate" to find her.

The black pedigree working cocker spaniel went missing in the area between Gleaston, Leece and Newbiggin on August 4.

The dog, aged five, was last seen at Holbeck Park Avenue, Roose in August.

The owner has not stopped looking for her beloved dog, with a small community of pet lovers rallying behind her in an effort to trace it.

Mrs Martindale said: "I am just so desperate to see her again.

"I am so worried about her, I don't know where she is and I just want her to be found."

She said people had supported her efforts to find Jessie on her travels.

"People who I have seen around have been so helpful when I have been walking around everywhere to find her."

Mrs Martindale said her dog was micro-chipped and knew the area very well.

Wellwishers on Facebook have been praying for Jessie to be found since she went missing.

Karen Harris said: "It's heart breaking. We need farmers to check their fields and people to keep a look out."

Mrs Martindale is appealing for anyone who has seen her dog to contact her by calling 07786031610.
