LANDSCAPE charity Friends of the Lake District has been overwhelmed by the number of images submitted to its 2018 photography competition.
This year’s competition has broken previous records with more than 600 images of the Lake District submitted by entrants hoping to feature in the charity's 2019 calendar and Christmas card collection.
“People are keener than ever to share their images of the Lake District," said Rachel Dorrington, Fundraising Officer at Friends of the Lake District. "Cameras are certainly more ubiquitous now of course but it’s not just the number of entries but the quality and range of subjects that has impressed us this year.
“The Lake District itself is clearly one of the most photographed landscapes in the UK but the popularity of our competition, the entrants’ knowledge and their love of the unique Lake District landscape means that we’re always able to find a new view and unique perspective capturing the essence of the changing seasons within the Lake District."
Calendar images include views over Ullswater, Levens Park, Great Gable, Haystacks, Jeffy Wood and a snow dusted red squirrel.
The 2019 calendar and Christmas cards are now available to purchase online at: www.friendsofthelakedistrict.org.uk/shop or by calling 01539 720788.
