SEDBERGH School psychologists and scientists swotted up on their knowledge of neuroscience at the school's Brain Day event.

Students dissected a sheep’s brain and were treated to expert explanations by Dr Guy Sutton, an assistant professor at the University of Nottingham’s School of Medicine.

Head of Psychology at Sedbergh, Paul Lucas, said students were engrossed by the brain dissection and praised Dr Sutton’s ability to explain complex neuroscience.

He said: "It was a hugely beneficial experience for the upper sixth psychologists at Sedbergh as they learnt about cutting-edge research in the area of neuropsychology, including applications to criminology and eating disorders.

"The brain dissection was the absolute highlight and helped our pupils understand the real-life scale of the structures we had covered in lessons. Dr Sutton also talked about recent technological advances in brain scanning which is a key topic on the Paper 2 exam. Our pupils are still talking about the seminar."
