EMERGENCY callers had to wait only six seconds before police answered their 999 call yesterday, it has been revealed.
Cumbria Police revealed they responded to 168 emergency calls in a 24 hour period on Monday.
All those callers who dialed 999 were responded to with an average waiting time of six seconds.
Officers also revealed they dealt with 584 non emergency calls on the same day through 101.
Those calls were answered with an average waiting time of six minutes and 21 seconds.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: "We aim to answer all calls as swiftly as possible.
"As well as the 101 number non-emergency reports of crimes can be made online at www.cumbria.police.uk."
