PUPILS at Dean Barwick Primary School in Witherslack have welcomed the arrival of new play equipment.
The new climbing frame and nest swing were funded partly by a successful Big Lottery grant and money raised by the pupils, PTA and donations.
Two representatives from Kendal Mountain Festival, Janie Oates and Steve Scott, officially opened the new facilities following an assembly all about adventures and exploring.
The chair of governors, Pauline Mort, was also present to celebrate the occasion.
“This is a very exciting event for our small school and the local community," said head teacher Paul Macfarlane. "The new playground will be used by pupils of all ages and we know that children in the village will also enjoy the new facilities.
"The children look forward to practising their climbing skills before attending the Kendal Mountain Festival in November."
