CHILDREN at Ingleton Primary School have been learning about the importance of bees - and have now harvested their very own school honey.
Back in the spring, the school was loaned a beehive, by bee keeper and parent of a child at the school, Mike Evans.
Located in the school grounds, it has been tended and monitored ever since by the school’s gardening club, with the help of Mr Evans.
A school spokesman said: “The children were able to assist in removing the honey from the combs, filtering it and putting it in to jars.
"A competition was held to produce a label and Hazel Gowland’s winning design now adorns the 40 jars produced.
"Locally produced honey has significant health benefits for people suffering from hay fever and other allergies and stock soon sold out.”
