FIREWORKS will be lighting up South Lakeland’s skies this weekend and into next week as part of Bonfire Night celebrations.

People are invited to Mintbridge, the new home of Kendal Rugby Club, for a free fireworks spectacular tomorrow night with a special remembrance day theme. Gates open at 5pm and there will be hot food and a licensed bar on site.

Coniston will be doing its own free firework display tomorrow at Coniston Sports and Social Centre. Gates will again open at 5pm and fireworks will be lit at 7pm.

At Hayes Garden Centre, Lake Road in Ambleside, visitors will be able to combine a fireworks display with a bit of Christmas shopping. Tickets cost £10 for adults and £6 for children. Doors open at 6pm and it finishes at 9pm.

On Saturday, Windermere Rugby club will also be doing its own fireworks and bonfire show.

Gates will open from 6pm and fireworks will be lighting the sky from 7pm.

Hot food, mulled wine and other drinks will be available on the night. Entry costs £5 per person or £10 for a family ticket.

Hawkshead Recreation Ground will be staging a bonfire and fireworks display on Saturday and gates will open at 5.30pm with the pyrotechnics starting an hour later. Donations at the gate and a barbecue will be running.

Burton-in-Kendal’s annual bonfire and firework display will be taking place on the Burton Recreation Field Multi Use Games Area, at the rear of the Royal Hotel, on Monday.

Gates will open at 6pm. The bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm followed by the firework display between 7pm and 7.30pm. Entry is £3 per person or £10 for a family.

Also on Monday, the Station Inn, Oxenholme, will be doing a barbecue as well as a bonfire and fireworks evening.

The event starts at 5.30pm, with a bonfire at 6.30pm and fireworks at 7pm. Tickets cost £3 for adults and £2 for under-14. 

Kirkby Lonsdale Rugby Club will also be hosting a bonfire on Monday, from 5pm. Tickets cost £5 for adults and £2 for children.

And people are invited to the Manor House, Oxen Park, near Ulverston, for a bonfire and firework display on Monday. Gates will open from 6pm and seasonal hot food such as pie and peas and hotdogs will be provided followed by a quiz at the Manor House.

At Barrow-in-Furness, Hawcoat Park Sports Club will stage a bonfire and fireworks display on Monday from 6pm. Gates will open at 6pm and tickets cost £3. There will be stands selling hot food and drinks.

And Lancaster is hosting its two-day city centre Light Up the Skies event, starting tomorrow (Friday) and culminating with a fireworks spectacular at 8pm on Saturday. It is an annual two-day event complete with activities and the illumination of the city’s historic buildings streets and squares. The event will start tomorrow at 5.30pm until 10 pm. On Saturday the event will culminate with a fireworks spectacular starting at 8pm.
