A NATIONAL Trust property overlooking Windermere has come up for rent after almost 20 years.

Belle Grange, a five-bedroom residence with jetty and boathouse on the western lake shore, is steeped in history.

It was gifted by the Curwen family, who owned Belle Isle, in 1962. The monthly rent is £2,000.

Jennifer Dixon, rural surveyor at Savills Carlisle, said: "This presents a rare opportunity to rent a beautiful, history-filled house with breathtaking views over Windermere.

"It has been let by the National Trust since they acquired it in 1962, but it hasn’t been publicly marketed since 2000 when it was let by the most recent tenant who enjoyed living at Belle Grange for 18 years.

"The property retains many of its original features including a large inglenook fireplace and open beams, but it also benefits from a recently refurbished kitchen and bathroom. We consider Belle Grange to be a family home where many happy memories can be made.”

To apply, contact Savills Carlisle before Monday (November 5) on 01228-527586.

Tenants will be selected by interview at the National Trust’s regional office at The Hollens, Grasmere.
