MORE than 1,000 poppies have been cut, sewn, knitted and crocheted in a Dales town and brought together to produce a touching display in remembrance of those who lost their lives in The Great War.

More than 40 Low Bentham residents have been working together in a community project to turn Rose Garden into a place of remembrance for Armistice day.

Event organiser Sharon Haslam said that 25 metal poppies, which have the names of the men from Low Bentham that died in action, were made by Phil Cressey.

Mr Cressey also made 75 wooden crosses and 270 plastic crosses which can be purchased and personalised with the name of a relative that has died in war.

There is an open invite on Saturday November 10, at 11am to join the community in a day of remembrance. There will be an opportunity to purchase refreshments in a pop-up cafe. All proceeds will be shared between Help For Heroes and The British Legion.
