A LAKE District hotel has a new restaurant manager.

Daniel Fox has joined the team at the elegant Signature Restaurant at the four-star Wordsworth Hotel and Spa in Grasmere.

The fine dining spot has an AA rosette for culinary excellence and is located in the historic hotel, originally built as a shooting lodge by the Earl of Cadogan.

Daniel has previously worked at the Waterhead Hotel in Ambleside, and he studied sports development at university in Liverpool, while also working in hospitality.

"We want our guests to be able to relax and embrace the tranquillity of Grasmere while enjoying the best Cumbrian produce and seasonal menus created by head chef Jade Smallman," said Daniel.

"We also offer exciting twists of the classics, for example our brand new Thai-inspired afternoon tea is delicious."

An Eastern version of the traditional dainty cucumber sandwiches and jam-and cream scones, the fragrant Thai menu includes tempura prawns, calamari rings, Thai-style dipping sauce, green Thai fishcakes, warm mango scones with lemon curd and Chantilly cream, lemongrass and coconut panna cotta, tropical fruit macarons, banana and sesame fritters and sticky rice scented with sweet pandan leaves.

The Signature Restaurant is open daily for lunch, afternoon tea and evening meals.
