CHRISTMAS is coming and Ulverston Traders, supported by Ulverston BID, are already planning a number of events to draw in customers in the run up to the festive season.

From Thursday, November 8 and every Thursday thereafter until Christmas week, shops in Ulverston town centre will remain open until 8pm.

A spectacular, gigantic light show, set to emblazon walls in the town centre daily throughout November and December, will be officially switched on by Ulverston’s Town Mayor at 6pm on Thursday, November 8, to mark the beginning of the Late Night Opening events.

To celebrate the launch on November 8 there will be free mince pies, mulled wine and live music in the town centre from 6pm until 8pm.

Come along and take advantage of Ulverston’s varied and unique shopping outlets offering everything from small gifts to luxurious party wear and a myriad of ideas for those difficult to buy for people in your life.

To complete your shopping experience why not make a night of it? Linger longer and treat yourself to something to eat or drink in one of Ulverston’s many town centre pubs and restaurants offering food from around the world - from haute cuisine to fish and chips, we have it all.

Plan your night by checking out the Choose Ulverston website to discover what each of our distinctive shops and eateries have to offer and download the Loyal Free app to take advantage of the. Special deals or Christmas treats many of the traders will be offering throughout the event.

And remember free parking is available after 6pm every day.

Meanwhile, Ulverston BID is in the process of completing a deal to install free WiFi in Ulverston town centre.

In the next few weeks visitors to the town will see a number of interesting-looking devices being attached to lampposts, shop fronts, chimney pots and street signs. These are the aerials for transmitting the WiFi signal, which will give both locals and visitors free web connectivity across the entire town centre.

It will be ideal for social media browsing and emails and the system complies with all new data protection regulations (GDPR). Once logged into the town WiFi, users will have access to the internet and to the Loyal Free app, which showcases fantastic offers and deals available in the town.

Look out for more information about this exciting new development in our next submission to A View from Hoad.
