THE EFFORTS of staff, parents and carers in maintaining quality education at Kendal’s Ghyllside Primary School have been acknowledged by Ofsted.

The findings of a short Ofsted inspection carried out last month have been released – revealing the inspectors’ conclusion that the rating of ‘good,’ agreed after a previous inspection in 2014, could be maintained.

“We are very pleased with this report.  It clearly recognises what Ghyllside Primary School is about,” said the school's head teacher Huw Davies.
The school, on Gillinggate, Kendal, was praised for both the way the curriculum ws offered and the range of extra activities provided.

The Ofsted Inspection Report singles out many areas of strength at the school including the excellent start children make to their school life in nursery and reception, the work that has gone into continually improving maths and reading and the effort staff put into ensuring the curriculum includes many trips, visitors and experiences for the children.
“You make the most of the unique geographical setting of the school to ensure that all pupils experience an exciting and vibrant curriculum that is enhanced by many outdoor enrichment experiences,” the report states.
It also noted that parents spoke very highly of the school and that pupils spoken to be inspectors said they enjoyed attending.
