SIR Cliff Richard is to perform an open air concert at Cartmel Racecourse.

The concert will take place on Friday, June 28 next year, and 'Early Bird' tickets will become available online next Sunday, November 18.

Announcing the event, Cartmel racecourse chiefs said they were thrilled to announce the news that Sir Cliff will follow in the footsteps of the likes of Boyzone, Tom Jones and Simply Red in playing live at the venue.

Sir Cliff, who is the UK's most successful solo hitmaker ever with 14 number one singles and seven number one albums, will appear as part of his Diamond Encore tour, and this will be the first time he has ever performed in the South Lakes area.

“We are thrilled that as a world-renowned artist, Cliff would select Cartmel as one of only three outdoor tour venues to play in 2019," said the racecourse's managing director Steve Cooper.

"As someone who always entertains the crowds with great energy and passion, we are already looking forward to what is set to be a day to remember.”

Adult early bird tickets are priced at £45, a saving of £15 on the on-the-day ticket price, and they go on sale at 10am next Sunday via the racecourse's website at www.cartmel-racecourse.co.uk.

Tickets will also be available online for teens which are priced at £25, and for under 13’s who go free provided they reserve a ticket in advance.

The concert will take place after the day's racing and all admission tickets for this date are inclusive of both the racing and the evening concert.
