BRADFORD Council has now published Addingham’s draft Neighbourhood Plan for a final period of formal consultation.

The Plan is built around a wide range of comments made by villagers during consultations held over the last two years.

Taking note of what people have said, it contains policies to protect and enhance the valued qualities of the village, its environment and setting.

These policies have been strengthened since the last version of the Plan was published, with new sections added on the village views and landscape features.

The consultation period starts on Wednesday, November 14 and runs until January 9, 2019 - an eight-week consultation period to allow for the Christmas period.

People are invited to comment on any aspect of the Plan. This is an opportunity, not just to raise any concerns, but to express support for the Plan’s policies and tell the planning authority what Addingham people like about the village and what they want to protect and improve.

Comments can be sent in to Bradford from everyone in the local area and the document can be viewed on Bradford Council’s website, as well as on the Parish Council’s, and, in hard copy form, at various locations around the village.

The Plan will then be subject to an independent examination and finally a referendum, to decide whether the Plan’s policies will form part of Bradford Council’s framework for determining planning applications in the village.

Chairman of Addingham Parish Council, Councillor Catherine Coates, said: “This is a crucial time for our Plan.

“This consultation is our last opportunity to get everyone’s views, and to show Bradford Council that Addingham has a voice. Let’s tell them how much we care about the future of our village.”

The Parish Council is a qualifying body for the purpose of developing a Neighbourhood Plan under the Localism Act 2011.

Neighbourhood Plans, once adopted, form part of the statutory framework for local planning decisions.

The Council has held four major consultation events on the Plan.
