PLANS for up to 35 new houses for Lindal-in-Furness have been temporarily delayed.
The bid by housing developer Chandlers Country Homes had been due for discussion by Barrow Borough Council planners.
But a meeting of the council’s planning committee heard the development had been temporarily withdrawn by the council.
Planning committee chairwoman Ann Thomson said the item was off the agenda for further investigation by the council.
Council planning manager Jason Hipkiss said the application had not been withdrawn by the applicant but by the council, to explore issues over drainage and highways.
The greenfield five-acre site off London Road, is partly used for allotments.
The aim is to create two to three-bedroom affordable starter homes and eight for the over-55s, along with detached and semi-detached properties.
Council officers had initially recommended permission was granted with conditions.
Lindal and Marton Parish Council has unanimously opposed the development on the grounds of highways, sewerage and drainage issues and traffic concerns.
