While appreciating most of the advice given in Richard Gladman's letter ( November 1, 'Driving in the dark advice'), he seems to ignore the reality that faces many of us living in this area.
Pedestrians are advised to plan to get to their destinations before it gets dark. For those of us who cannot drive at night, this amounts to a curfew, from 4pm in midwinter.
I live on a road with no pavement and no lighting. To get anywhere I have no option but to walk on this road - yes,. with reflective armbands and a torch, but in darkness nevertheless.
Drivers aren't the only people entitled to use the roads at night.
