THE Kendal Rotary Club held their annual 'Youth Speaks’ competition for schools around the South Lakes area.
Pupils were set in their teams and with their chosen subject they would do a ten minute presentation.
A spokesman from the club described the event as always fiercely contested.
"Everyone is amazed at the level of competence shown by the entrants," he said "particularly when you realise these pupils are only 11 or 12-year-olds."
This year the event was won by Dallam School with Erin Lewis-Lennon as chair, main speaker as Hannah Bradshaw and the proposer of the vote of thanks, Emily Doran.
Hannah also won as the overall best speaker as well as Erin who won the overall best chair. Holly Turner from Kirkbie Kendal won overall best proposer.
