THERE were celebrations at Cragwood Country House Hotel last week when the kitchen team learned the establishment had been awarded a coveted second AA rosette.

And Albert Waldon, manager of the Ecclerigg based hotel, said the staff deserved rich praise for securing the award.

“Gaining a second rosette is a major achievement for head chef Calvin Harrison and the kitchen team and it’s a testament to their dedication, passion and culinary skill," he said.

"We are all thrilled for them. Calvin is a very driven, ambitious chef and I’m sure his sights are already fixed on achieving a third rosette.”

AA Rosettes are awarded solely by AA hotel and restaurant inspectors and are in recognition of culinary excellence and cooking, and also exceptional service.

The AA Inspector offered particular praise for the team's hard work in creating a seasonal menu which is nicely balanced and cooked to perfection.

“We pride ourselves on our warm hospitality," said Mr Waldon.

"We want our guests to really get to know our team and feel like part of the family. Everyone works extremely hard to meet and exceed our guests expectations throughout their stay and this award recognises all that effort."

This latest award comes shortly after Cragwood won the Bob Long Trophy- Ambleside and Lakes Parish in Bloom 2018 award for hotels over 10 bedrooms, retaining first place for its beautiful gardens.
