ENTHUSIASTIC bakers across Cumbria are being asked to roll up their sleeves and ready their mixing bowls to take part in the first Barnardo’s Big Bake event.
The event, which kicked off in November, sees people across the country baking - or buying – an array of sweet treats and selling them to raise money to help vulnerable children, young people and families who are supported by Barnardo’s, which runs 18 children’s centres across the county.
“The Barnardo’s Big Bake is the perfect opportunity to get together with friends and family and enjoy some delicious treats, knowing that the money you’re raising will be used to support children facing some of today’s most urgent issues," said Barnardo’s Head of Fundraising Gemma Cornwell.
"Every cake that is crafted, bought or cobbled together will make a huge difference to the children and young people that we support across Cumbria. On behalf of those children, we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who takes part.”
The children’s charity has launched a booklet designed to inspire budding bakers which features actor and Barnardo’s ambassador Fay Ripley. For a free copy, go to : https://www.barnardos.org.uk/campaigns/big-bake.
