A KENDAL resident who grew a moustache just for November has raised over £100 pounds for a local cancer charity.

Running into it's eleventh year Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues.

Chris Bownass, aged 49-years-old, decided to go in line with the centenary of world war one by growing a moustache typical of the era.

The money he has raised so far has gone to CancerCare, a charity that supports those affected by Cancer in the North Lancs and South Lakeland Areas of the UK.

He said he wanted to take part in Movember as his uncle suffers from pancreatic cancer and a close friend has bowl cancer and both seek support from CancerCare.

"My Uncle Steve and a close friend of mine both have cancer so I was inspired to raise some cash for cancercare," he said "I will now be very glad to shave off the tash now the month of November has gone."
