IF you can hit the right notes, and make people laugh too, it's a recipe for success.

And a Kendal trio look to have nailed that recipe to a T because a fun song and video they put together has had an incredible one million views on Facebook, and that figure's still rising.

The Wyld's 'It's a Farmer's Life,' which is best described as an agricultural take on the rock band Survivor's 'Eye of the Tiger' song from the original Rocky film, has gone viral, and its success has amazed the down to earth trio who produced it.

"It was a fun thing but it was shared on Facebook and we suddenly started getting loads of notifications and comments on Facebook and it just took off," said Sean Moore.

The 33-year-old provides most of the vocals and co-stars in the video with band mate Richard Ferris while a third band member, James Procter, is the man responsible for the technical side of proceedings.

'Its A Farmer's Life' which, as the name suggests, is a good humoured look at the agricultural world which is such a key employer in the South Lakes area, had already had thousands of hits on The Wyld's own Facebook page.

But when Sean contacted top web operation Music Life, who subsequently shared the video on their own page, things really started to happen.

Within hours, the song had tens of thousands of views from literally all over the world, and as the Westmorland Gazette went to press, the view counter had incredibly passed the 800,000 mark on the Music Life page, and with more than 200,000 views on their own page, a combination of those two figures means The Wyld have smashed the magical million barrier.

But it's not a case of instant success for the likeable trio.

Sean, who describes his employment as a wellbeing manager at Summerhill Care Home on East View as "the best job in the world," formed The Wyld with Richard, who works at a well known bakery on Stricklandgate, and James, who is a business administrator, in late 2016.

They began producing songs which were mostly parodies, starting with a ditty about Richard's fear of snakes and moving on to a song about 'manflu' which bears a striking resemblance to The Police's 1983 number one hit Every Breath You Take.

But the 'It's a Farmer's Life' video, which was filmed on James's parents' farm at Mealbank, has really thrust them into the spotlight.

And with a follow up called "We're Still Farming" about to be released, it's onwards and upwards but with a distinct local flavour.

But why the name 'The Wyld'?

"My little daughter was obsessed with the film 'Madagascar' where all the characters kept talking about trying to make it to 'the wild,' so we decided on that name," said Sean.

"Then we found there was already a band called 'The Wild' who were big in the US, so we just changed one letter."

A Christmas number one might just be a step too far, as the lads admit they have not looked into the mechanics of releasing the song as a single, but as Sean pointed out, there are other charts besides the Top 40.

"There's already a chart for 'urban' music," he said.

"So if they bring a similar chart out for 'rural' music, we might have a chance of being top!"
