YOUNGSTERS, parents and staff are celebrating after their nursery near Kirkby Lonsdale was judged outstanding by Ofsted.

The Mulberry Bush Nursery, part of Casterton, Sedbergh Prep School, gives children aged six months to four years "a supreme start in life", praised the inspector.

Claire Robinson, manager, said: "To achieve an outstanding from Ofsted, something only 17 per cent of early years providers have attained, requires dedicated staff who are all passionate about working towards our shared vision, and to have families who believe in and respect our ethos and values.

"We are fortunate to have this combination, alongside a wonderful group of keen and motivated children. I would like to say thank you to our staff, parents and children, who have all contributed to making The Mulberry Bush an outstanding early years setting.”

The Ofsted inspector praised the staff's high expectations for their young charges, saying this helped give them "a supreme start in life" through activities such as swimming, French, PE and music.

The report said the nursery's ethos of placing children "at the heart of everything" it does created "a very tranquil and welcoming atmosphere" where youngsters were "extremely happy and content."
