KENDAL Parish Church has been re-decorated for the festive season as it hosts its annual Christmas Tree Festival for the seventh year running.

Forty trees have been decorated individually by charities, groups, organisations and schools based on the chosen theme of films.

The charity With Singing in Mind has decorated its tree around the 1952 film Singing in the Rain while the Fairtrade Foundation has gone with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Lancaster and District Samaritans has chosen the classic Christmas movie It’s a Wonderful Life as its subject.

The festival will raise funds for each of the charities s and also raise awareness of what each organisation does.

The Parish is encouraging as many visitors as possible to come along to support the event and will be open to the public tomorrow between 3.30pm and 5.30pm.

It will also be opened on Saturdays on the run up to Christmas between 11am and 4pm and on Sundays from 2pm to 4pm.

Entry costs £1, children go free and refreshments will be provided.
