On Monday, November 26, about 9.20 we were involved in a traffic collision at the junction of Parkside Road with Valley Drive at Kendal.

At the time we were in no condition to thank everyone that helped.

David managed to get out of the car and, although bruised, was able to walk. I, on the other hand, sustained chest injuries and was not really able to move.

We would just like to thank all the emergency services who were on the scene very quickly, having been called by a passing motorist and who were just wonderful.

A firefighter, who I never actually saw, got into the back of the car to hold my head and neck to prevent any further injury until a lady paramedic arrived to efficiently and gently sort me out in the ambulance.

Up to that time a kind lady, who must have been passing by, waited with me and spoke to me keeping me calm and comforted. I didn’t catch her name and I don’t think I thanked her but I really appreciated having her there and I realise that it can’t have been a pleasant experience for her. So thank you!

David was discharged from A&E with heavy bruising on his chest and I spent a couple of days in hospital with multiple rib fractures. We are both now recovering at home. How thankful we are for our highly skilled emergency services and the kindness of strangers in Kendal.
