FLOOKBURGH CE Primary School has extended its opening time to offer 30 hours of nursery provision.

The new venture will be available for children from the term before their third birthday.

Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron visited the school to celebrate the announcement and spent a morning in the purpose-built, teacher-led nursery with children from class one.

He met with staff, parents and governors, all of whom were enthusiastic about the greater opportunities the children will have in the New Year. The classroom was a bustle of activity as the children showed off their craft making skills and demonstrated their favourite activities in the school's all-weather covered area.

The highlight of the morning was the ceremonial cutting of cakes, both of which had been baked by one of the parents to mark the special occasion.
