A NEW wall mural has been designed to celebrate the 115-year anniversary of the first successful aircraft flight the world had ever seen, by the Wright Brothers.

The artwork by MuralsWallpaper is inspired by vintage aviation posters and features the famed Wright Flyer, which Orville and Wilbur Wright took to the skies of the USA on December 17, 1903.

The pioneering, iconic plane is depicted soaring above a lush woodland landscape.

The mural blends retro-style design and modern aesthetics, taking its cues from travel posters of the early 20th century. A muted palette of tonal colours is used to evoke graphic, gradient scenery.

The company behind the design, MuralsWallpaper, said the wall art had been "specially created to pay homage to what can be considered the most monumental moment in aviation history".

The classic Wright Flyer was the first "heavier-than-air" plane to achieve controlled flight. It propelled modern aviation up and onwards after its inaugural flights at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, 115 years ago, the Liverpool-based company added.
