Yet again United Utilities is closing the A592 between Newby Bridge and Bowness for the third winter to 'protect the workforce' in replacing sewers.

This imposes inconvenience and expense on regular users as the diversion is 20 miles one way.

Why didn't United Utilities employ more contractors and finish the work last year?

Why did Highways let United Utilities close the road to the inconvenience of council (and business tax) payers.

Nobody objects to the protection of the workforce. Allowing United Utilities to close the A592 between 7pm and 7am would minimise inconvenience and expense and protect the workforce.
