IMPROVEMENTS to four popular parks are on the way thanks to Kendal Town Council.

This week councillors agreed to spend £7,000 on new play equipment at Hallgarth play area; £5,000 towards a new entrance at Noble's Rest, from Library Road; £5,000 towards the trim trail at Beck Community Centre, Heron Hill; and £2,000 on improvements at Fletcher Park, Sunnyside.

The money is to be raised by a 24p monthly increase on council tax.

Cllr Jon Owen, chair of the council's environment and highways committee on Kendal Town Council said: “Our local parks and community centres are a key part of the life and soul of Kendal.

“So, I’m absolutely delighted that we’ve been able to announce improvements to them through this new investment.

“Now that the money has been signed off by the town council, I’m looking forward to seeing the work getting started and the public soon being able to enjoy our parks even more.”
