POLICE investigating the theft of an ATM in Milnthorpe have charged two men. 

The incident which occurred on The Square in Milnthorpe on January 10 also involved the theft of a number of vehicles. 

Officers were alerted at 3.53am to the theft and a police response was launched involving officers from Cumbria and Lancashire which led to the arrest of two men. 

Michael Campbell, aged 37, of Wooley Meadows, Stanley Crook in Durham and Jason Brazauskas, aged 30, of Church Street, Toronto in Bishop Auckland are both due before Barrow Magistrates' Court today. 

A Cumbria Police spokesman said both men have been charged with burglary, two counts of taking a vehicle without consent and two charges of criminal damage. 

Extra high visibility patrols have been deployed to Milnthorpe to offer additional reassurance to the community.
