FOLLOWING recent letters from Cllr Eamonn Hennessy and David Plumb in The Westmorland Gazette regarding food poverty and food banks, we would like to give an update on King's Food Bank, our local food bank in Kendal.
Looking back over 2018, we are grateful to so many people who have supported us here at the food bank. The list would be so long: volunteers who have collected, sorted and packed food; others who have delivered the food; organisations and individuals who have given so generously that we have been absolutely amazed at the quantity. To all of you who have worked so hard and given so generously, we thank you most sincerely.
In 2018 we received 1,080 referrals, which is an 18 per cent increase on 2017. We were able to provide 21,189 meals into the local community, helping many individuals and families who found themselves in difficult circumstances.
So thank you again for all your support. Together we make a real difference to many people.
