A TEN-week-old Cocker spaniel puppy has been given a warm welcome by children and staff at two primary schools.

Named Connie Nutkin, she was introduced to delighted youngsters at Dean Gibson School, Kendal, and St Cuthbert’s School, Windermere, by Sarah Tansey, executive head of both Catholic primaries.

The pup will initially be a visiting school dog – but the hope is that, once trained, she will become a therapy dog for pupils, with research showing they can reduce stress and provide a sense of connection in difficult situations.
