THE future of county bowling teams in Cumbria will be discussed at an upcoming public meeting.

The meeting will be held at the Co-op Bowling Club in Dane Avenue, Barrow, at 2pm on Saturday, January 26.

It has been called following the merging of the men's and women's county teams and unless new officials are recruited to organise the ladies team it could be forced to fold.

Organiser Pam Charnley said: "A meeting has been called at the Coop bowling club Dane Avenue on January 26 at 2pm to discuss the way forward for Cumbria Ladies County bowling side.

"The amalgamation of the men's and women's county teams means there will be some restructuring in the officials organising both ladies teams in Kendal and the Furness area.

"All county players past and present and anyone wishing to be part of the ladies county scene are invited to attend.

"We need new officials in order to keep the ladies county team running otherwise it will fold and nobody would like to see that happen. Please come along, everyone is welcome."
