A SAFETY warning has been issued to residents across the county following reports of cold callers selling household items door to door.

Cumbria Trading Standards have received reports of cold callers operating in Cumbria.

A spokesperson said: "Consumers should be extremely cautious when approached by cold callers offering to sell goods or services. They can often use persuasive or aggressive tactics to get you to purchase goods that you might not necessarily want or need."

Trading Standards advice is to always say no to any cold callers, try to avoid answering the door and to look out for elderly or vulnerable friends, family and neighbours.

If you require further advice or wish to report any suspicious activity please contact Trading Standards via the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 03454 04 05 06 or visit www.adviceguide.org.uk.
