A ONE-bedroomed Barrow flat is among a list of the 20 cheapest properties in the UK to buy currently on the market.

The apartment, listed for £15,000, is situated on Steamer Street on Barrow Island and according to estate agents Farrell Heyworth could rent for approximately £350 per month making it a 'very tempting investment deal'.

The research was compiled by online estate agents Housesimple.com, whose CEO Sam Mitchell said: “With the average UK house price over £200,000, it’s hard to believe you can still buy a house for pre-1980 prices. These properties won’t appeal to the majority of buyers, but if you’re not afraid to purchase something that needs work, there are some genuine bargains out there waiting to be snapped up.

The cheapest property, a one-bed flat in Port Glasgow, is for sale at £4,000.
